T-mobile Slashes G1 Price - Not In U.S.
Faced with strong competition from Research in Motion (RIM)’s BlackBerry Storm and of course the Apple iPhone 3G, T-mobile made some moves to increase sales over the holiday shopping season by reducing pricing on its exclusive Google G1 Smartphone.
However T-Mobile said that the price drop was not a reflection of poor sales, it was a move to keep the Google G1 competitive in the fierce smartphone market. The new T-Mobile G1 deal offered is you get the phone free on a £30 tariff. Previously you would have to pay £40 a month to get the Google Android phone for free.
So with Vodafone pushing the BlackBerry Storm and O2 pushing the Apple iPhone 3G, T-Mobile needed to give the G1 a helping hand, well let’s face it, the G1 is fighting the companies at the top of the smartphone market.
